Ski Resorts Could Be Coming To Texas
When you think Texas, you don't always think skiing. Unless of course you are heading to New Mexico or Colorado, but a Virginia based company wants to change all of that. The company Alpine-X wants to build indoor ski and snowboard resorts in Texas.
So does that mean one could be coming to Lubbock? Much like Bucee's, the answer is probably not. At least not anytime soon. Sorry Lubbock.
However, Alpine-X is looking at building in Dallas and Austin. The indoor ski resorts would be family-centric, all-season, entertainment venues, and according to WFAA, the executives of Alpine-X have already signed a letter of intent with a developer to build two of the indoor ski and snowboard resorts. The hope is to have at least one location open by 2025.
According to WFAA, the designs would include an enormous indoor snow area.
The company said while it is still working on specific designs for the resorts, they will include an "enormous" indoor snow area with designated areas for skiing and snowboarding, lessons and areas to play in the snow. The resorts will include hotels, restaurants and other facilities, according to Alpine-X.
The company also said there is potential for more resorts after the two initial Texas locations.
"This is part of our growth strategy that targets major North American metropolitan areas. We are aiming to establish a footprint of Alpine-X branded resorts and the dynamic Texas market is a perfect spot for our properties," Alpine-X CEO John Emery said. "We’re excited to join forces with this group in Texas, who are passionate and experienced in the development, delivery and operation of indoor entertainment venues.”
In the next few months we could hear more about possible plans for indoor skiing and snowboarding. Sounds like fun to me.
