Several South Plains Counties Experience Temporary Power Outage
Friday morning (August 23) at around 4 a.m., there was a temporary power outage across parts of the southern South Plains.
According to Lyntegar Electric Co-op, the counties most affected by the outage were Garza and Lynn, but Lubbock, Dawson, Hockley, Borden, and Terry counties were also affected.
The Garza County Sheriff’s Office said the outage was due to a Xcel Energy transmission line being damaged by a lightning strike. By 5:30 a.m. it's reported that most of the power had been restored.
