On Monday (Sept. 17), a semi-truck traveling on US 62 between Ropesville and Wolfforth was destroyed after it caught fire and burned down.

KAMC News reports fire crews responded to the scene Monday evening, where the driver of an 18-wheeler had pulled over to the side of the highway after experiencing a mechanical malfunction.

Just after 7:40 p.m., the semi-truck caught fire and started burning. Fire crews worked throughout the evening to extinguish the fire, which produced smoke that could be seen for miles. Police closed down eastbound traffic on US 82 until the fire could be extinguished.

Fortunately, the driver of the semi was not injured.
