Does your child need a new helmet? Don't miss out on this Lubbock event where you can get a free one.

The event is put on by TrustPoint, Moody, and Team Luke Hope For Minds. This is to kick off March for brain injury awareness month.

The City of Lubbock recognizes March 3rd as Team Luke Hope for Minds Day to honor the life and legacy of Luke Siegel. They are also asking the community to support the 3-3-3 Campaign by donating any amount with the #3 in it.

If you don't know the story, it all started back in 2015 when Luke had a golf cart accident in South Lubbock that would cost him the use of his limbs and his voice. Luke’s dad, Tim Siegel, started a non-profit called Team Luke Hope for Minds. It raises money for families whose children had severe head injuries and need financial help.

The foundation started in January 2018 and has already given out more than $350,000 to families in 19 different states.

Every year they do a bunch of events in March to bring awareness to how important it is for your kids to wear helmets.

The first 300 kids that are 14 and under will receive a new, personally fitted helmet. This is perfect for biking, skateboarding, skating and so much more.

The first 100 kids will also receive a free t-shirt along with the helmet.

They will have first responder trucks out, food trucks and lots of Texas Tech giveaways.

Helmets and Heroes is happening on March 4th, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Remember to come early because this will only be for the first 300 kids. The event is taking place at TrustPoint located at 4302 Princeton Street.

You can learn more about the event, the nonprofit and donate at the Team Luke Hope for Minds website.
