The Rankin Twins to Play Lubbock Benefit Show for Alstrom Angels

We love great country music, and The Rankin Twins, two of country music's brightest and most talented stars, will be in Lubbock to play the Alstrom Angels Night For Angels benefit, Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at the Four Bar K, 302 E. 82nd St.

The benefit is for Alstrom Angels, a non-profit started by Cassie Johnston and her husband after their daughter, Bryce, was diagnosed with Alstrom Syndrome when she was only three years old.

Alstrom Syndrome is an extremely rare disease that happens only to children. Its effects are devastating and fatal. Bryce is now seven years old and is almost completely blind. She's been taking Lipitor for liver disease since she was three years old.

There have been less than 1,000 children worldwide to ever be diagnosed with Alstrom Syndrome and only four in all of Texas. There are now three surviving children in Texas. The fourth child died in 2014 at the age of 15.

Alstrom Syndrome attacks every one of the affected child's organs, leading to blindness and eventual organ failure.

The Night For Angels benefit, according to Cassie Johnston, is a night to celebrate the children with Alstrom Syndrome and a chance for parents of children with the disease and all attendees to relax, have a great time and raise money for this relatively unknown charity and this devastating disease.

To put it in perspective, Cassie found out when Bryce was diagnosed that Alstrom Syndrome only gets $100,000 per year for research into finding a cure and prevention. That's a drop in the bucket compared to other causes which are able to raise millions per year.

So, Alstrom Angels needs our help to raise money and awareness of this horrible illness, in hopes and with prayers that a cure and how to prevent it can be found soon.

There will be a live and silent auction the night of the event with a bid page with the items on the website starting Feb. 5th. So, even it you're not able to attend to show, you can still absentee bid on the items.

Cassie said that they have over 120 items, which includes two incredible items. One is an electric guitar signed by every one of The Eagles, including Glenn Frey. The second item is an original Star Wars poster, signed by every original cast member!

So for collectors as well as Eagles and Star Wars enthusiasts, this is a chance to own something that could very well be in the Smithsonian Institute and to help Cassie help these sweet children who are facing such difficulty and this point, lives cut way too short.

Tickets are only $50, which includes dinner, beer and wine (for 21 and over), plus dancing the night away to the awesome music of the beautiful Rankin Twins. Tickets will be $10 more at the door the night of the event.

You can also mark your calendars for Alstrom Angels Annual Beeping Easter Egg Hunt, March 20, 2016, at Maxey park in Lubbock. The event is for children with impaired sight, but sighted children are welcome too and will be provided with a blindfold.
