There’s a Phone Number You Can Call to Report Public Gatherings in Lubbock

The City of Lubbock has a phone number citizens may call to report public or private gatherings of any size outside a single household.

According to a post on the City of Lubbock's Facebook page, while there are several activities still allowed under Mayor Dan Pope's recent stay-at-home order, including necessary grocery shopping, healthcare and working at an essential job, gathering in groups is not.

"Our law enforcement agencies, led by the Fire Marshal's Office, are conducting daily and nightly business and mass gatherings inspections," the City wrote. "If you see a situation where people are breaking the Stay-At-Home Order, you can report it to our Police Department non-emergency line: (806) 775-2865."

In addition to no public or private gatherings, the City of Lubbock's stay-at-home order also says "any person who is sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID-19 must Stay-At-Home other than necessary medical or emergency care" and that there will be "no visits at nursing homes, retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance."

As of Tuesday, March 31st, there were 100 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Lubbock County, with 2 deaths.
