Patrick Mahomes’ Fiancée Responds to Haters by Selling ‘Team Brittany’ Shirts
We're well aware that Brittany Matthews is probably the most hated significant other in sports right now. Despite how loved her fiancé Patrick Mahomes is, everyone seems to hold some form of disdain for Matthews.
I think most of the hate is unnecessary, but there are times when I understand Chiefs fans' being upset. Her most recent scandal involved her spraying a bottle of champagne over a section of celebrating Chiefs fans after a big win. The situation was later aggravated when she responded to the champagne backlash on Twitter by stating how she wished she could do whatever she wants without getting hate.
Now, I don't think she deserved all the hate over the champagne, but I don't think it's okay to want to get away with anything because your partner is famous.
In response to the constant flow of online hate she receives, Matthews has decided to launch a ‘Team Brittany’ shirt that her supporters can purchase. Matthews said that a portion of the sales will go to an anti-bullying charity, and she plans to match whatever proceeds they make in order to double the donation.
Matthews said that she wants to take a bad thing, like the bullying she receives online, and turn it into something positive. She mentioned how she understands how much hate people can receive online, and she wants to help those that deal with it.
Of course, her decision to do this was met by plenty of judgment and unhappy people, leading to even more hate towards Matthews.
Some people are still showing her support. Although they understand that Matthews can have a temper or act without thinking sometimes, they still know she means well.
I agree that Matthews has good intentions and never means to harm anyone. I think a lot of people are jealous or simply looking for someone to target in order to make themselves feel better, and that's exactly why it's important to bring attention to bullying online.
If you don't want to buy one of her shirts, then don't, but consider spreading some positivity and you might realize how much better it makes you feel.
