Patrick Mahomes Breaks 54-Year-Old Chiefs’ Record
Patrick Mahomes threw his 31st touchdown of the season this weekend in a 26 to 14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. That breaks the 54-year-old record that was set by hall of fame quarterback Len Dawson, who threw 30 touchdowns in the 1964 season. That means Mahomes has already thrown more touchdowns than Joe Montana or Alex Smith during their Chiefs seasons. More than Trent Green, Elvis Grbac or Matt Cassell.
Dawson threw 354 passes in the season where he threw 30 touchdowns. Mahomes has 345 pass attempts this season. Dawson had 18 interceptions. Patrick has 7.
Mahomes is on pace to throw for the most yards in Chiefs history as well. Through 10 game's Patrick has 3,150 yards is just 1,441 yards short of the 4,591-yard record set by Trent Green in 2004.
Mahomes is also on pace to tie the highest completion percentage in Chiefs history set by Alex Smith last season.
