Over 75 Guinea Pigs: Texas Woman Owns Herd of Cavies
There are plenty of different farms all around Texas. Most of these farms have a pretty standard array of animals like cows, pigs, chickens, and maybe some deer.
This Texas woman probably has the most unique hear of animals I have ever come across. She has a herd of over 75 guinea pigs. That’s right, the rodents that look like fuzzy potatoes and squeal when they’re are happy.
Guinea pigs are also known as the cavy or domestic cavy. They are commonly kept as pets in the United States and are originally from South America.
I knew that they liked to live in pairs because they’re social animals, but I had no clue that people kept herds of them. I also wasn’t aware of modern domestic cavies living outdoors as this group does. They seem very happy though and even have their own little barn.
I came across this heard of piggies on TikTok. The owner has explained over various posts that they will take in any unwanted pets in order to give them a happy life on their farm. They have their own little barn that they can hang out in and keep warm in the winter. They are extremely well taken care of with fresh veggies and a clean living space.
It seems that the farm is not exclusive to guinea pigs. Based on some of their other videos, it looks like they also have horses, chickens, and goats as well.
I wonder if their owner accepts any visitors because I would love to go check it out and meet all of these adorable little critters.
