An arrest has been made in a string of car burglaries Monday morning in the LakeRidge neighborhood in South Lubbock.

The Lubbock Police Department responded to reports of vehicle burglaries beginning at around 4 a.m. Vehicles were burglarized in an area between 82nd and 98th Streets and Quaker Avenue and Slide Road.

Officers found several suspects in the area and one of them was arrested after a short vehicle and foot chase that ended in the 8700 block of Toledo Avenue. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Ziakel Williams, was charged with organized criminal activity, tampering with evidence, evading in a vehicle, as well as on foot, and burglary of a vehicle.

Authorities say at least 12 vehicles were broken into during Monday morning's string of burglaries. Lubbock police said over 350 burglaries have happened since the beginning of 2022.
