The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees has approved appointments for the new Chief of Police for the Lubbock ISD Police Department and principals of 2 elementary schools.

According to a Lubbock ISD news release, Ramon (Ray) Mendoza, the current Deputy Chief of Police for the Lubbock Police Department, has been selected as the new Lubbock ISD Police Department's Chief of Police. Mendoza began his 24+ year-long career in law enforcement back in 1997, serving as a patrol corporal/officer, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain before eventually becoming the deputy chief. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Emphasis in Criminal Justice from Eastern New Mexico University back in 1996.

Stacy Stephens, current associate principal at Roscoe Wilson Elementary School, was also appointed as the new principal of Roscoe Wilson. Stephens has been with Lubbock ISD since 1993, serving as assistant principal at Hutchinson Middle School and counselor at Hutchinson, Bayless and Nat Williams Elementary Schools. She was also a classroom teacher at Arnett Elementary School. Stephens received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Tech and a Masters of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University.

Finally, Cayce Noble, current assistant principal at Overton Elementary School, was appointed principal of Wheelock Elementary. Noble's been with the district since 2007, serving as assistant principal at Jackson and Wright elementary schools, literacy coach at OL Slaton Middle School and a classroom teacher at Roscoe Wilson Elementary and Irons Middle School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Tech.
