New Jersey Meets West Texas When a Yankee Rides a 2,000-lb Horse [Video]
I work with Justin from New Jersey. He knows a lot, has seen a lot and has done a lot. But ride a 2,000-pound horse bareback isn't one of them...until now.
Justin and I got into a bit of a debate a couple of weeks ago regarding horses. He told me when we were talking about horseback riding that he would never ride a horse for fear of "hurting" them. I told him that horses way at least 1,200 pounds and I have a friend who owns two horses that weight over 2,000 pounds each!
He poopoo'd that and said there is no way they weight that much. So, it was time for a blindfold and a trip to see my friend Margaret Couch at Trinity Ranch.
Margaret owns seven rescue horses and has been around, trained and owned horses since she was eight years old. She not only welcomed us to the ranch, but brought Bonnie and Clyde, both Percherons, out for Justin to meet.
Bonnie weighs in at 2,000 pounds, and Clyde weighs around 2,100 pounds.
Needless to say, Justin had not seen horses this big ever before, especially in person. Margaret did one better and let Justin ride Bonnie bareback -- much to his delight. And he did pretty good...for a Yankee.
So welcome our newest honorary West Texas, Justin from Jersey!
