My Quick Thoughts: Prevent Rape, Show Your Strength [VIDEO]

Everyone gets those 'what's trending' stories that pop up on your Facebook timeline. Well, one came up on my timeline that scared me. So here are my quick thoughts and a reminder to all women out there to STAY AWARE of your surroundings!  Ever since my parents started letting me hang out with my friends unsupervised, my dad has always been on me about being aware of my surroundings.

Admittedly, I always thought it was because I am his only daughter and he was being over protective, but now that I'm older I know that, while that may be true, my dad knew that it doesn't matter who you are. Bad things and bad people can still happen to you.

This video is a surveillance video of a woman who NARROWLY escaped something terrible. She was being followed by a man into a doorway and then.... well you'll see. (more below video)

This woman got lucky. REALLY, REALLY lucky.

On the site I saw this on, there was a banner advertising a website called MyStregth.org. It's a campaign that talks about how a man's strength is not for hurting.

Yes, some women may not make the best choices in their outfits and where they wear them, (some have even been very outward to say that there are women that 'ask for it') but every man has the power to stop the situation, as well.

I also think there is a lot that can be prevented by leading by example. It's a responsibility I see for both men and women to teach younger kids about respect and safety.

This could go on forever, so I'll stop on this note: BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!! It's an easy tip that can help women and men alike.
