I'm very happy to report that three of the very best things to do in Lubbock are coming back very soon.

The Lubbock Lake Landmark is set to reopen Thursday, October 15th, while the Museum of Texas Tech will reopen Thursday, October 22nd.

From their official press release:

After a seven-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Museum of Texas Tech University will reopen on Thursday, October 22, 2020. The Museum will operate on an adjusted schedule of Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., at limited capacity. The Museum will require masks to be worn while visiting and will administer temperature checks and review a symptoms checklist query upon entry. Lubbock Lake Landmark will open Thursday, October 15, with a Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., adjusted schedule and masks will be required.

Additionally, the Ranching Heritage Center will reopen Tuesday, October 13th.

I've spent many, many hours between these three wonderful facilities during my lifetime in Lubbock. They are all lovely, interesting, and thought-provoking and also free to check out.

I took my baby when she was little all the time, and I always take out-of-town guests to check out one, if not all of these offerings. I have a particular fondness for the room of weird drawers in the Texas Tech Museum. Will you see some dead rats? Will you see an ancient Native textile fragment? Maybe some interesting bugs? It's like Animal Crossing, but real, y'all.

Support these cultural gems with your attendance, as funding for these types of institutions can rely in part on attendance numbers. It's relaxing, it's educational and it's good for your brain.
