Did you know that the Lone Star state has its very own motto? That's right, the motto of "Friendship" was adopted as the Texas state motto in February 1930. And boy, is Texas really showing that friendship really is a way of living out here.

Over at Preply, which is a language learning app, they compiled a list of the rudest cities in the country; you have to figure that they would know because they tutor people across the country who want to learn a new language.

According to their research, they found that the top 10 rudest cities in the country were:

10. Houston
9. Los Angeles
8. Washington D.C.
7. San Francisco
6. Detroit
5. Boston
4. Las Vegas
3. New York City
2. Memphis
1. Philadelphia

So much for the "city of brotherly love", right?

Preply surveyed over 1,500 residents of the 30 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. and asked them about the rudeness level of their city, including the prominence of certain typically rude behaviors, to help travelers determine what to expect when visiting.

Alternatively, they also found the least rude cities in the country, and five Texas cities round out the list! Preply found that other cities scored low when it comes to rudeness, indicating a culture of general politeness. Their top 15 least rude/most polite cities are:

15. Dallas
14. San Antonio
13. El Paso
12. Portland, OR.
11. San Jose
10. Denver
9. Milwaukee
8. Oklahoma City
7. Columbus
6. Chicago
5. Indianapolis
4. Nashville
3. Fort Worth
2. San Diego
1. Austin

Is it surprising that El Paso makes the list? I do always hear from people who aren't from here, or who are traveling around who say the people in El Paso are some of the friendliest people they've met. I guess other Texas cities have followed the lead.
