More Details on Shia LaBeouf’s Arrest in Austin
The Transformers and Indiana Jones actor apparently jaywalked, disrupted traffic in front of a police officer and was a "danger to himself and others."
According to the police affidavit (via the Statesman), LaBeouf and two women (ages 18 and 20) tried to cross several lanes of vehicles against a green light. He apparently raised his hands as if directing them to stop, including a police cruiser.
The officer then pulled over to conduct a probable cause stop.
The affidavit says LaBeouf turned away from the two women and attempted to leave the area as the officer got out of his car. The officer directed him to stop.
The officer then reported a strong smell of alcohol. He also noticed LaBeouf's speech was impaired and his eyes were glassy and dilated.
According to the report, LaBeouf told the officer that he "typically walks away because police had killed a friend of his." He then became more confrontational, aggravated and verbally aggressive with the officer.
The report says he called the officer a "silly man" three times during the confrontation.
The affidavit says LaBeouf then began "puffing his chest and walking in an aggressive and threatening manner" at a man who was recording the encounter on video, which prompted the officer to intervene.
LaBeouf continued his tirade towards the officer and got within two feet of the officer’s face, telling him to "do whatever the (expletive) you gotta do."
The officer "determined that LaBeouf was a danger to himself and others" and arrested LaBeouf on the misdemeanor charge of public intoxication.
LaBeouf was booked into Travis County Jail on Friday night, but was later released.
