Miranda Lambert dropped "Mess With My Head" on Friday (Aug. 9) after teasing the opening audio earlier in the week, and it's even racier than anticipated.

"Maybe it's wrong, but it feels right to me ... If it ain't love, then I like it better than before," Lambert sings in a song that comes with sexy cover art, too.

"Mess With My Head" features a more progressive, glossier studio production than most of Lambert's recent work. The musical track has a New Wave rock slant to it, with aggressive drums, trebly guitars that give way to distortion in the chorus and a jittery bass line that propels the track forward with a steady, pulsating energy.

The song is the third track fans have heard from Lambert's upcoming new album, which is expected to drop in the fall. She has already released the lead single, "It All Come Out in the Wash," and another song titled "Locomotive."

Lambert debuted "Locomotive" at CMA Fest in June, and it finds her revving up the kind of energy that she brought to some of her earlier, rockin' material, but with a more mature lyrical perspective. "It All Comes Out in the Wash" also returns Lambert to her wheelhouse with its wry, witty lyrics.

Lambert has completed her upcoming album but has not yet announced a title or details about the tracks. She's set to launch her 2019 Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour on Sept. 1.

Miranda Lambert's "Mess With My Head" Lyrics

I had the palace looking nice and neat / Two feather pillows with expensive sheets / Sitting so pretty on my velvet couch / Before you came around

You treat my mind like a hotel room / And I know why I gave the keys to you

Chorus:
I let you mess with my, mess with my head / I let you mess with my, mess with my head

Maybe it's wrong but it feels right to me / Reveling in reverse psychology / You complicate it with your lying lips / I'm waiting on a kiss

Second Chorus:
I let you mess with my, mess with my head / I let you mess with my, mess with my bed / Waking up to a wreck with blue jeans on the floor / If it ain't love then I like it better than before / I let you mess with my, mess with my head / I let you mess with my, mess with my head

You treat my mind like a hotel room / And I know why I gave the keys to you

Repeat Second Chorus
