Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson is lending his support toward trying to fix an ongoing problem in Lubbock.

Thursday, Mayor Robertson will host a meeting with the goal of increasing the number of foster parents in Lubbock. Representatives from DePelchin Children’s Center as well as other child placing agencies will be at the meeting and local religious leaders have been invited to help get the word out about the urgent need for foster families.

“There is a growing need for foster families in Lubbock,” Mayor Robertson said. “My hope is that out of this meeting there will be a group of loving, caring families who will step up to the plate and provide a positive impact on these young lives.”

The meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, in City Council Chambers at 1625 13th Street.
