A Lubbock man who pleaded guilty on Monday for beating his girlfriend when she downloaded a social media app has been sentenced.

KAMC News reports 21-year-old Dameon Marmolejo was sentenced Thursday (June 14) to 15 years in prison.

The victim, Solidad Torres, testified Wednesday morning, giving a detailed story of what Marmolejo had done to her. The beating left the victim with 15 staples in her head, three stitches and bruises all over her body. Marmolejo hit her and slammed her head into a bathtub, she said.

Marmeolejo was arrested in August 2017 by U.S. Marshals in the 1900 block of Avenue O. He faced up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.
