On Saturday, May 8th, Lubbock Police arrested a man after they say he ran over his friend's foot in an attempt to run over an officer outside of a bar.

KAMC News reports that officers were called to the Library Bar at 1701 Texas Avenue at around 1:15 a.m. in the morning. It's said the suspect, 19-year-old James Parker Shepard of Houston had a firearm and was upset that he had been kicked out of the bar.

Officers arrived and noticed Shepard trying to back out of the parking lot. He nearly struck a stationary vehicle, to which and officer attempted to get him to stop. Shepard still backed up again, and nearly struck another vehicle.

The officers then attempted to approach Shepard to get him out of the truck, but he continued trying to drive away. Reports say that Shepard swerved towards one of the officers and his friend who was standing nearby. The officer jumped out of the way of the truck, but the friend had his foot ran over.

After fleeing, Shepard was located just a bit later at the 7-11 at 2423 Marsha Sharp passed out in the truck. He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading with a vehicle.
