Update 09/03/20 - The Lubbock Police Department has identified the man injured in the Wednesday morning (Sept. 2) car accident.

Police say 20-year-old Johnny Gonzales was running south when he went into traffic at the intersection of Spur 327 and West Loop 289.

Gonzales was then struck by a westbound Cadillac Escalade at around 8 a.m. The driver of the Escalade was not reported to be injured.

It was initially reported that Gonzales only suffered moderate injuries, but it's now been confirmed that he suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident. His current condition is unknown.

LPD investigators are still investigating the details of the accident.


 

Original Story 09/02/20 - Wednesday morning, September 2nd, first responders were called to a reported car accident in Southwest Lubbock.

According to KAMC News, the accident occurred at about 8 a.m. at the intersection of Spur 327 and West Loop 289.

Police said that a man ran out in front of a vehicle and suffered moderate injuries after being hit.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. It’s unclear exactly why the man ran into traffic. Police are still investigating the incident.
