The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation has partnered with Amerigroup to host the annual National Night Out at the Maggie Trejo Supercenter (3200 Amherst Street).

The annual event is a community-building event that is meant to enhance the relationship between Lubbock citizens and local law enforcement.

There will be a multitude of things going on at the event, with food, a movie in the park, a giveaway and even Mariachi music. Who doesn't love free food especially when the food yells summer? There will be free hot dogs and chips that have been generously donated by United Supermarkets. My question is, who will be grilling all these hot dogs for all these people? The free backpack giveaway is perfect since it's nearly time to send the kiddos back to school.

Lubbock Parks and Recreation will also be pulling out all the stops with their pop-up park trailer. This trailer will be filled with athletic equipment, outdoor toys and yard games to get everyone moving and having fun while the summer comes to a close.

And you can't forget the music. It wouldn't be a party without Lubbock's very own Mariachi Mexico Lindo playing some mariachi music to bring the summer to an end right before the movie Encanto is played.

National Night Out will be August 2nd, 2022 from 7-9 p.m,  with the movie expected to start around 9 p.m. and go on until around 11 p.m. More information about the event can be found on the Facebook event page or at the City of Lubbock's website.
