Lubbock Woman Arrested, Accused of Injuring Infant Son
A Lubbock woman has been arrested and accused of child abuse.
Twenty-one-year-old Alexia Lucero was arrested Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020 for an incident that occurred this past April.
KAMC News reports that based on court records, Lucero's 7-month-old son was brought to Covenant Medical Center and diagnosed with epidural hematoma, which is a formation of blood between the brain and the skull.
Police say Lucero first told a CPS detective that the infant was injured in his crib. She later revised her story and said he fell off a bed. However, based on court records, neither story properly explained the baby's injury, KAMC noted.
Lucero is being charged with injury to a child and aggravated assault and is held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond, a bond she tried to have lowered last week.
