Police Arrest Lubbock Teen After Crashing Stolen Vehicle
A Lubbock teenager has been arrested after he was involved in a chase that ended in a crash.
KAMC News reports that a Lubbock County Sheriff's Office Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 500 block of County Road 7200 the evening of Saturday, November 8th, 2020. The traffic stop was initiated because the vehicle had a tail light out and there was a report saying the vehicle was stolen.
It's said that the driver then refused to stop, leading authorities on a brief chase on US 87 and Interstate 27. The chase eventually ended when the suspect crashed the car, but it hasn't been explained how exactly the crash occurred or where it happened.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle both suffered minor injuries. The passenger was transported to a local hospital.
The driver, identified later as 17-year-old Jonathan Arredondo, was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
He's been charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawfully carrying a weapon, evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Arredondo was still being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Sunday afternoon, November 8th, 2020.
