
Lubbock Police Investigating September Vehicle Burglary After Death of One Involved

The Lubbock Police Department have turned their attention to a September vehicle burglary case after a death of one of the individuals involved.
On Friday, September 24th, Lubbock Police responded to a civil disturbance at a hotel in the 4000 block of South Loop 289. When officers arrived, they found 35 year-old John Smiley with serious injuries in the parking lot. Smiley was then transported by EMS to University Medical Center.
EverythingLubbock reports an investigation revealed 37 year-old Jonathan Lee found Smiley inside his vehicle and confronted him. An argument ensued, and Lee thought Smiley reached for a gun on his person and threw him on the ground, causing serious injuries.
On Thursday, October 7th, authorities learned Smiley was pronounced dead at 7 a.m.
