Monday night (Feb. 24), the Lubbock Police Department Crime Suppression Unit arrested a man suspected of being involved in a local bank robbery.

48-year-old Matthew Thomas Courtney is accused of walking into the City Bank location at 611 University Avenue last Friday (Feb. 21) and demanding money from a bank teller. He allegedly fled the scene in a 2002 Mercury passenger car.

Police obtained a warrant for Courtney Monday afternoon (Feb. 24) and arrested him just before 7 p.m. Police have not yet detailed the evidence they have against him, but he is being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
