Lubbock Parks Are Open — Yes, You Can Take Your Family to the Park
The City of Lubbock's parks are open and you can take your family, according to City of Lubbock Interim Park Director Ronnie Gallagher.
Everyone's cooped up inside and practicing social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic, so it's good to know that as long as you stay in your family group, you can enjoy some great time outdoors at our wonderful Lubbock parks. Why not take a picnic lunch and a frisbee and get out for some fresh air soon?
While many of the park facilities are closed, there are still plenty of great fun outings to enjoy with the family.
Here's what is closed at the park, according to the press release on their website:
The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department is committed to the safety and security of all citizens, staff, and visitors. In order to support that commitment, the Parks and Recreation office located in the Lubbock Business Center (City of Lubbock Utilities), all Community Centers, Adult Activity Centers, Burgess Rushing Tennis Center and Safety City will be closed to the public beginning Saturday, March 21, 2020. Other facility closures include all baseball, softball, soccer, and multi-use fields, as well as park pavilions and Clapp Party House.
However, playground areas, some tennis courts, picnic areas and walking trails and more are open for our enjoyment.
Spring is in the air, so let's get out to the park and boost our immune systems with some sunshine and exercise soon.
