A Lubbock man was arrested back on Friday, August 16th, after assaulting multiple people, including a Lubbock Police detective.

According to KAMC News, LPD Officers responded to the area of 41st Street and Slide Road at 9:30 p.m., where 18-year-old Charlton Curtis was allegedly holding up traffic.

Reports say that Curtis was leaving a party while under the influence of marijuana, methamphetamine and possibly LSD.

Someone reportedly attempted to pull over and help Curtis, and he struck their head. A detective attempted to detain him, but he actively resisted. He was placed in the back of the detective's vehicle and began kicking.

As officers attempted to remove Curtis from the vehicle, he allegedly attempted to escape. A detective attempted to prevent Curtis from fleeing. That's when Curtis bit the detective's thumb and held on for several seconds.

Curtis was restrained on the ground and taken to University Medical Center. After he was cleared there, he was transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and booked on charges of assault on a public servant, four counts of assault, resisting arrest and public intoxication.

KAMC News reports that the injuries in the jail booking image were self-inflicted, and not caused by officers.
