Lubbock Has Multiple Violent Weeks: Shootings, Chases, Crashes, Drug Deals And Arrests
If you follow the news it may seem like there has been a lot of bad things happening in Lubbock this week. From shootings, chases, arrests and so much more the crime reports show it was a violent week.
These cases range from people dying to no one hurt but the Lubbock Police Department has been busy.
On August 2nd, a Lubbock woman was arrested and accused of stabbing a person in the head during an argument.
On August 2nd, a woman was arrested, she is accused of helping a Lubbock murder suspect hide from authorities for weeks before he reportedly killed himself in a motel room.
On August 3rd, there was a shooting and car chase near Clovis Highway and Indiana Avenue. KCBD reported that two people went to the hospital but they are non-life-threatening injuries.
On August 4th, EverythingLubbock reported that there was a shooting and crash on Loop 289 on Wednesday night that left two people injured. There was a single bullet hole in the driver’s side door, however, the report said the victim only suffered injuries from the rollover. The second victim had a bandaged injury to his left forearm and a single bullet hole wound on his left leg. Neither victim's injuries appear life-threatening.
Also on August 3rd, a man was arrested in a connection drug deal that lead to gunshots. Noah Mejia, 18 was arrested for the crime. Mejia was also shot during the “exchange of gunfire” and was transported to UMC with minor injuries.
On August 6th, it was reported the Lubbock Police Department was investigating a Saturday night shooting near the 2600 block of West Loop 289. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
On August 9th, the victim of a serious motorcycle crash near East 50th Street and Loop 289 was identified. Four people were injured in the crash. Fields and another passenger on the bike, Deloris Halpain, 34, was seriously injured, according to police. Soliz had moderate injuries and a 16-year-old passenger had minor injuries.
On August 9th, The Tahoka Police Department identified the body that was found on Saturday near the 1400 block of North 6th Street. According to the press release, officers responded to the area and found the body of Claudia Gail Davis, 50, in the middle of the road. Tahoka PD said the medical personnel arrived to provide medical aid but Davis was pronounced dead.
On August 9th, the Lubbock Police Department identified the man who was killed in the Wednesday morning rollover. John Cook, 70 appeared to be driving north when the vehicle lost control and hit a curb.
