A couple county health departments in the South Plains released updates concerning the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in their respective counties.


Lubbock County

On Monday, September 13th, the City of Lubbock Public Health Department provided their update on COVID-19. Since Friday, September 10th, a total of 679 new cases were reported as well as 11 deaths. 237 cases were reported on Saturday, 111 on Sunday, and 331 on Monday.

This brings the total number of cases of COVID-19 reported in Lubbock County since the beginning of the pandemic to 60,971. The total number of deaths is at 814. There are currently 4,568 cases reported as active.

Hale County

On Tuesday, September 14th, the Plainview-Hale County Health Department released their bi-weekly update regarding COVID-19 in the county. As of Monday, September 13th, 102 additional cases were reported since their last update, as well as two more deaths.

The current number of active cases in the county is 196. This brings the total number of cases of coronavirus in Hale County since the pandemic began to 7,252. A total of 6901 were listed as recovered and 155 deaths.

As of Sunday, September 12th, the Texas Department of State Health Services showed the hospitalization rate for the Lubbock and South Plains region at 17.78 percent.
