The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence situation south of Shallowater Tuesday afternoon (June 18th).

Officers arrived at the 7400 block of County Road 6100 at around 3 p.m. and found a 12-year-old boy in a house with an armed man. KAMC News reports that the boy did not appear to be injured, however, a woman was injured and taken to a Lubbock hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

Sheriff Kelly Rowe said that officers used tear gas to subdue the man and rescue the boy.

The man has been taken into custody, and his identity has yet to be released.
