Members of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office helped arrest two people on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, after they led deputies on a high-speed car chase through the City of Lubbock.

According to KAMC News, the incident began yesterday just before 3:45 p.m. when a Lubbock County Constable claims to have witnessed a crime.

The constable told authorities that he saw two suspects try to steal a flatbed car hauler by attaching it to their silver Ford Explorer. He followed the suspects and tried to pull them over, but they refused and sped away.

The car chase began on the frontage road of U.S. Highway 87 at 82nd Street and continued through South Lubbock for a number of miles. During the chase, the constable called in help from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies were sent to assist in the pursuit.

According to authorities, the chase ended just southwest of Lubbock after the suspect driving the Ford Explorer tried to cut through a field and crashed just off FM 41. Deputies say the two suspects tried to escape on foot, but were unsuccessful.

Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene, but they have not yet been identified. It’s also unclear what they might be charged with, or why and how the suspects managed to steal the flatbed car hauler in the first place.
