Lubbock County has filed a lawsuit accusing a list of pharmaceutical companies of contributing to the opioid crisis which harmed local residents.

According to KAMC News Lubbock County claims that pharmaceutical companies failed to make sure that opioid drugs were provided strictly for medical need.

“From 2006 to 2012, there were 77,595,883 prescription pain pills supplied to Lubbock County, enough for 41 pills per person per year—well above state and national averages,” the lawsuit said.
