Compared to previous city council meetings over the past few months, Thursday's Lubbock City Council meeting should be shorter in duration due to fewer items on the agenda.

The council is expected to approve a $2.3 million contract with Henthron Commercial for renovations to the Lubbock Civic Center and Civic Center Theater.  All restrooms will be renovated, along with the replacement of tile, and renovations to the theater dressing room and back stage.

The council will consider approving a four-year water wholesale contract with the TDCJ for the John Montford Unit.  If approved, the contract would be in effect through August 2019.

Finally, the council will consider an appointment to the Parks and Rec Board and four appointments to the Citizens Traffic Commission.

Mayor Pro Tem Jim Gerlt will discuss the council meeting Friday morning at 7:10 during Lubbock's First News on News/Talk 790, KFYO.
