The identity of a person who died after colliding with a guardrail in Lubbock Tuesday morning has been released.

17-year-old Gavin Andre Deleon collided with a guardrail and was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead.


 

Lubbock police are investigating the scene of a single-vehicle car accident Tuesday morning, Jan. 7th, 2020.

KAMC News reports the accident occurred at about 8:37 a.m. on North Loop 289 when a passenger vehicle struck the guardrail of the Slide Road exit ramp.

It's unclear if anyone was seriously injured in the accident. The westbound lanes of North Loop 289 have been blocked east of Quaker Avenue  until the wreckage can be cleared. First responders are urging drivers to avoid the area.
