A Lockney woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Tuesday, February 1st, in northeast Lubbock County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 400, just south of County Road 5700.

Initial reports say a 1992 Chevrolet Passenger Van, driven by 58 year-old Juan Hernandez, was traveling north on FM 400. At one point, the vehicle veered off the road and into a barrow ditch, crashing into a concrete culvert.

A passenger in the vehicle, 66 year-old Virginia Hernandez, died as a result of the wreck. Hernandez was treated on scene by EMS while a 13 year-old and 9 year-old were taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities say Hernandez was the only occupant in the vehicle wearing a seatbelt.
