Less than two weeks after a double homicide at Level Nightclub, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has issued an emergency 90-day suspension of the Lubbock business.

The three-month-long suspension, which officially went into effect Friday evening (Jan. 10th), follows a 7-day suspension issued by the TABC on January 2nd, 2020 after two men were shot and killed at Level Nightclub (1928 Buddy Holly Avenue) on New Year's Day.

The lengthy suspension is the result of TABC's initial investigation, the commission said in a press release Monday morning.

TABC cited Section 11.614 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, which allows them  to suspend a business' permit for up to 90 days if they "determine that the continued operation of the permitted or licensed business would constitute a continuing threat to the public welfare."

According to Lubbock Police Department investigators, 24-year-old Dedrick Traylor and 17-year-old Garyontae Shephard got into a fight inside the club. Shephard pulled out a gun and shot Traylor. While Shephard was fleeing the scene, a yet-unknown suspect shot him. The second shooting happened outside the club.

Anyone with additional information on the fatal shootings at Level Nightclub is urged to call Crime Line at 741-1000. They can also contact Detective Roberts at 806-548-1664, or Detective Price at 806-548-4111.
