The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team will look to make it three straight victories over top 25 teams when they return to action tonight, hitting the road to battle 5th ranked Texas A&M.

The Lady Raiders enter the game at 19-7 on the season and 6-6 in Big 12 play. The Lady Aggies enter the game at 22-3 on the season and 10-2 in the Big 12.

This will be the 71st meeting between the two teams with the Lady Raiders holding the lopsided series lead at 54-16. The Lady Raiders did lose their first matchup with Texas A&M earlier this season in Lubbock, and have lost two of the last three games in the series.

Texas Tech Junior Kierra Mallard was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 14-20. Mallard helped lead the Lady Raiders to back to back wins, including the dethroning of Baylor as the top seed.

Mallard, for the week, averaged 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor. She had 19 points and 8 rebounds in Tech’s win over then 20th ranked Iowa State on February 16th from the United Spirit Arena. Mallard was also a key factor in Tech’s upset victory over then top ranked Baylor on Saturday February 16th.

This was Mallard’s for honor of the season. She shared the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week honors with Carolyn Davis of Kansas. This is not the first honor of the season though for a Lady Raider as Teena Wickett was named a player of the week earlier this season.
