How WT Students Can Turn Handshakes Into Job Offers
Picture this: hundreds of WTAMU students descend on the First United Bank Center in Canyon. They are in their best business casual with a folder of resumes in hand. They have spent countless hours perfecting those resumes with just as much time in front of a mirror practicing their elevator pitches.
They have spent years working towards their degrees, and they are preparing to embark on the rest of their lives. They are nervous and ready to meet their future employer. As they walk into the room, 85+ companies are waiting for them to stop by.

We are speaking of the WTAMU Spring Career Expo. The Expo will take place on Thursday, February 19, from 10 am to 2 pm inside the First United Bank Center on the WT campus.
Many of these students are searching for jobs in their majors, while others are ready for internships to give them the experience of working in the field they study.

Why the WT Career Expo Matters More Than Ever
This expo matters because of what these students face after graduation:
- Rising tuition and student loan pressure
- The reality of post-graduation job hunting
- How internships now act as “extended interviews”
- Why face-to-face networking still beats online applications
The No. 1 reason students pursue higher education is to secure a better-paying job,” said Kat Kane, senior director of the Office of Career and Professional Development. She added that at WT, the university works intentionally with academic programs to ensure students graduate with relevant, in-demand skills
