We live in an era where extra money is hard to come by, keeping many from enjoying the little luxuries in life. One Amarillo small business owner, who runs the Casual Conversation Shop, took to TikTok to offer a solution on how to still enjoy the luxuries we all give up.

Amarillo Small Business Owner Turns to TikTok With Creative Idea

The question asked was,

What if we trade?

Rising Costs Leave Little Room for Luxuries

She seems to be in the same boat as a lot of us. Times are tough. We are making it, but she put it plainly in her video:

A lot of people don't have extra to spend on themselves.

She was asking about nail techs, hair stylists, tattoo artists, artists, and others who are in the same boat. If you love vintage clothing and you offer a service, let's trade.

A Modern Twist on the Barter System

If you think about it, that's how a lot of stuff got done in days gone by.  Oh, you need eggs, and I need material for a dress. Here, I'll give you the eggs, and you'll give me some material. Hugh needs lumber, and John has lumber but needs beef.  Well, Hugh has beef, and a trade goes down.

Amarillo was built on neighbors helping neighbors. This feels no different.

Amarillo Businesses Respond to the Trade Proposal

The video quickly gained attention with over 500 likes, and if you scan the comments on TikTok, many people had responded. One artist offered a trade for vintage clothes. A handyman, a baker, and several nail techs and hair stylists offered to trade. Others didn't know about her shop, but wanted to come check it out. See, you never know how things will turn out until you ask.

Supporting Local During Tough Economic Times

Hopefully, the trades will work out for her, and she can treat herself to some new nails or a hairdo.
