When I was younger and in school, one of the things I did was help out with the kids in special education. It was hands down one of the most rewarding things I ever did while I was in school, and something I still hold near and dear to my heart.

One of the things that I absolutely love is the Special Olympics, and something is happening in the Texas Panhandle wrapped around our chapter of Special Olympics that is amazing, and I wanted to share it with you.

The 2-Mile Torch Run

One of the most special parts about the Olympics and Special Olympics is the running of the torch. In the Olympics, the torch travels all over the world as people run with it, and ultimately the torch reaches the destination of the games, and it's used to light the Olympic Flame.

The Special Olympics also does a torch run, and the torch is here in the Texas Panhandle. Happening this Saturday, September 5, there will be a 2-mile run happening in Canyon with the torch, and it's all to benefit the Special Olympics here. The event will be held at Bar Z Winery.

How Do I Register

Registering for the event is easy and can be done a couple of ways. This Friday, September 4, you can head out to Bubba's 33 in Amarillo between 5-7 pm to get signed up. You could even stay for dinner at that point. Two birds, one stone.

Don't feel like going out? Good news, we've got a link you can just click, and it's right here. Registration is $40, with the proceeds going to help the Special Olympics here in the Texas Panhandle, so yes, you're helping people right here in your community. See you there!
