A police department in Texas has been rocked by a scandal, and it's cost them their police chief.

It all went down in the city of Bovina, Texas where the Texas Rangers came in and made an arrest on one of their own recently.

WHAT IS THE CHIEF CHARGED WITH

Bovina Police Chief Joe Orozco was arrested on Tuesday, August 27th on three different charges of tampering with government records. He was booked into the Parmer County Jail and was bonded out about 45 minutes later.

Orozco was immediately placed on suspension from the police department, and he recently resigned from the department amidst the investigation.

WHAT HAPPENED

From what we know so far, Orozco was involved in an accident, and according to reports so far, Orozco was driving a Bovina police vehicle.

We aren't sure of any of the details of the accident yet, and what caused it, but that will most likely come out soon enough and shed some context.

WHY WAS HE ARRESTED

It wasn't the accident itself that got Orozco in trouble and arrested. It's what happened AFTER the accident occurred.

City Manager Cesar Marquez told ABC 7 that the tampering may have come from Orozco engaging in "improper conduct involving an automobile accident and the resulting insurance claim."

It would be the insurance claim where out focus would need to be here, as it's possible there was numerous false claims that were put on the insurance claim. If that was the case, it COULD mean that whatever happened wouldn't have been covered by insurance, therefore, he was looking for ways to have the car covered.

There is still a lot more to be figured out here, so standby because this one could get interesting.

What Is A Day Like In Texas Prisons? A View From Both Sides Of The Bars

Have you ever wondered what life inside a Texas prison is really like? I asked friends who are correction officers and folks who have volunteered at jails. I also asked former inmates, and browsed forums and articles with current and former inmates. Put all together, it paints what I hope is a fairly accurate picture of daily prison life in Texas.

Dangerous Texas Gangs And Their Rivals

The rise of gang culture in Texas has been a steady one

The more prevalent gangs are, the more likely the average citizen is to cross paths with affiliated members. As the population of Texas has increased in size and diversity, so have the gangs of the Lone Star state.

If you're not mixed up in organized crime shenanigans, then you're probably safe. But as the old adage goes, the more you know the better prepared you are.
