Texas Tech Football lost their Big 12 Opener to West Virginia 20-13 and may have lost starting Quarterback Tyler Shough for the season due to an ankle injury Saturday afternoon in Morgantown, West Virginia. The loss drops Texas Tech to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12.
The Red Raider offense, like the rest of the early season, sputtered and lacked a cogent identity being held to 56 yards of total offense in the first half. The lone bright spot was Tahj Brooks running 25 times for 149 yards in the losing effort. The offense was abysmal yet again on 3rd down conversions going 2 of 17.

The Red Raider defense held West Virginia down for most of the game giving up only 20 points and forcing two turnovers. The defense has consistently kept the Red Raiders in the game in each of their 3 losses which have been within one score.
The Red Raiders have struggled away from Lubbock going 1-6 on the road under Head Coach Joey McGuire. The 1-3 start matches the 2020 and 1993 seasons.
The Red Raiders return to Lubbock next Saturday hosting the Houston Cougars at Jones AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:30pm and officially sold out.
