U.S. officials are still dealing with the terrible fallout from Hurricane Helene while a new disturbance has the attention the attention of many, including weather watchers right here in Texas.

Right now, there isn't much to the system of storms and showers in the Caribbean, but officials believe it is possible that as the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico this week, it could further develop into a tropical depression.

According to AL.com, forecasters say it appears as though any development will take towards the end of this week or the weekend. If the disturbance forms into a tropical depression, forecasters can get a better idea of where the storm may end up.

Could Texas Get Hit?

According to AL.com, it's too soon to say exactly where the possible storm could end up, however forecaster warn that this storm, could impact the Gulf coast, possibly some of the same areas impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, which covers southeast Alabama and is in recovery mode from Hurricane Helene, was watching the disturbance on Monday. Forecasters said the disturbance’s path is very uncertain, since it hasn’t formed yet “but trends show a generally slow drift to the Gulf Coast. Regardless of development, folks should monitor this system’s progress, while expecting an uptick in rain chances as associated moisture overspreads parts of the region beginning late this week.”

As Hurricane season continues, forecasters will be keeping eyes on the the tropics to see what develops.
