A beaver in Texas decided to take a page from Santa Claus and force his way into somewhere that only led to him getting stuck. Instead of chimneys of all the good boys and girls in West Texas, this beaver thought he'd try his luck in a water treatment facility reservoir.

A Bucktooth Blunder

According to an Instagram post from Austin Animal Services, a team was sent out to a water treatment facility on a call of a small furry mammal reportedly trapped in the massive reservoir—yes, filled with water.

When the professionals arrived, they discovered that the rogue animal was indeed a beaver. Sadly, the little guy must have been trapped there for days, being able to catch a break from swimming on a small ledge inside the tank for short periods of time.

The reservoir was way too deep for the animal protection officers to simply reach in, so they had to use a rope hoist to lift the wood-chewer out of his watery demise.

Once the little guy was free, he was immediately taken to Austin Wildlife Rescue where he could finally rest those tired muscles and prepare to head back out into the wild.

You may think that this beaver was off his rocker for entering the reservoir in the first place, but water is actually the beaver's best line of defense against predators and starvation.

You see, although they are clumsy and slow on land, beavers can swim up to six miles an hour in the water. Serving as nature's lumberjacks, beaver teeth never stop growing which means they must constantly be chewing and gnawing to keep their chompers at bay.

So, thanks to the efforts of some very friendly Texas officers, one happy beaver can finally return to stopping flowing water wherever he sees, or whatever it is that beavers get up to when we aren't looking.
