Surprising 2024 Lubbock Car Crash Stats and Facts
I hate to pick at old scabs, but there is good news surrounding the total crash reports from 2024 in Lubbock: It's down from 2023! Let's just hope we can keep that downward trend going for 2025...
2024 Crash Totals in Lubbock
According to Everything Lubbock, by mid December, 2024 showed that Lubbock County had 6,673 total reported crashes. Fortunately, that is a decrease from 2023 which saw over 8,000 crashes throughout the county.
Among the total reported crashes, 98 of them resulted in serious injuries. There were also roughly 41 fatal crashes in 2024, with 46 people losing their lives in Lubbock County last year.
Of the approximately 6,673 crashes of 2024, Lubbock County records show that about 206 were either direct or indirect results of drunk driving. 14 of the driving-while-intoxicated crashes involved serious injuries, and eight of them were fatal.
When it came to driving while under a controlled substance other than alcohol, five crashes resulted in lives lost.
When it comes to motorcycles, 18 of the 126 crashes were labeled "serious", and six motorcycle crashes were fatal.
October was the month with the most vehicle accidents of 2024 in Lubbock County with 695 reports. Of this total, seven ended with fatalities, Everything Lubbock reports.
2024 vs. 2023 Lubbock Crashes
As previously mentioned, 2023 had about 2,000 more crashes than 2024 in Lubbock. Public records showed that there were roughly 8,461 vehicle crashes in Lubbock County in 2023. 115 of these accidents were involved serious injuries while 52 were fatal.
2023 also contained 277 crashes involving drunk driving--about 70 more than in 2024. 11 of these reports were fatal, but of the 39 drug-related crashes reported in 2023, only 16 resulted in loss of life.
