One Of These Men Will Be The Next Police Chief For Lubbock
Lubbock is getting closer to having a new Police Chief. It's been more than seven months since former Police Chief Floyd Mitchell left the department, and even he has a new job as Chief of Police for Oakland.
On Monday, the City of Lubbock announced the four finalists who are being considered for Lubbock Police Chief. The City of Lubbock will be holding a meet and greet with the four finalists on April 25 from 5-7pm at the Lubbock Civic Center.
Finalists For Lubbock Police Chief
After what has been called an "intensive, nationwide search", these are the finalist for Chief.
- Chief Glen Fowler. According to a press release, Fowler is the Chief of Police and Assistant Vice President of the Methodist Health System in Dallas. He began his career in Lubbock where he rose to the rank of Captain in the Lubbock Police Department. According to the press release, Fowler has served at other stops. "serving as Deputy Chief for the Allen Police Department and Chief for the Watauga Police Department prior to joining the Methodist Health System Police Department as Chief".
- Chief Seth Herman. Herman has 28 years of service to the Midland Police Department. He has served as Chief of Police in Midland since 2018.
- Deputy Chief Kenneth Myers. Before becoming Deputy Chief over the Patrol Services Division in Allen, Texas in 2020, Myers was an officer and detective in Trophy Club and Westlake. He joined the Allen Police Department in 2000.
- Deputy Chief Michael Smathers. Smathers served the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for 25 years then joined the Albuquerque Police as the first outside Deputy Chief in 2019. He is currently the Deputy Chief/First Deputy Chief.
