Texas Tech has announced its 2023 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor Class. The 2023 class will induct 7 former great athletes along with posthumously honor former Texas Tech Head Football Coach Mike Leach.

The 2023 class is headlined by former Coach Mike Leach who will be inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Honor. Leach is the winningest coach in Texas Tech Football history and took the Red Raiders to bowl games in all 10 seasons. The Leach era at Texas Tech has been considered by many to be one of the most successful eras in program history. Leach died on December 12 of 2022. At the time, he has the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Texas Tech's Hall of Honor is reserved for non-athletes who provided great contributions to Texas Tech Athletics.

Kliff Kingsbury will headline the group of outstanding athletes inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame. While Kingsbury played for Texas Tech he set 39 school records, 16 Big 12 records and 17 NCAA FBS records. He recorded more than 12,000 passing yards and total offense which included over 1,000 completions. Kingsbury was also named the 15th head coach in Texas Tech Football history in 2013.

Gonzalo Escobar who played men's tennis, Greg Lowery who played men's basketball, Cathy Carlson, who played women's tennis, Kim Kaufman who played women's golf, Matt Wingo who played football, and Jason Young of track and field are other star athletes that make up the 2023 class.

According to a press release from Texas Tech, the formal induction will come on September 29th.

The 2023 Hall of Fame and Hall of Honor class will be formally inducted at 6 p.m. on Sept 29 during a ceremony at Overton Hotel and Conference Center. The entire 2023 class will later be recognized on the field the following day when the Red Raiders host Houston inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

Additional details pertaining to the Hall of Fame Ceremony, including individual ticket and table information, will be announced later this fall.
