September is Suicide Prevention Month, and the City of Lubbock is joining the fight with a massive fundraiser dedicated to making a difference, together.

Lubbock Mental Health Services

Before we get to the fundraiser, I first want to include the many opportunities Lubbock offers for help and support.

For instance, the City of Lubbock Public Health Department offers counseling, resources, and support to any and all who need it. Counseling services are available every Monday and Wednesday between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Lubbock Public Health Building on 2015 50th Street.

Appointments can be made by calling (806) 775-3860, and callers must be at least 18 years of age.

The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 1-800-273-8255.

Lubbock County also provides a list of resources for those who need them, ranging from mental health services and substance abuse treatment to free shelters, clothing, and meal services.

Lubbock Walk Fundraiser

Another way that Lubbock citizens can show their support during September is by participating in the 2026 Lubbock Walk. As suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., supporting the Lubbock Walk allows further understanding of mental health among our family and friends.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the National Ranching Heritage Center on October 24.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the walks are ways that people in the community can make a difference together in non-competitive walking routes.

The program also has a monetary goal attached to the walk that participants can choose to support.

Your company can even sponsor the Lubbock Walk in elevating the future of mental health awareness by contacting Sybille Neuber at sneuber6@gmail.com.
