Lamesa Police Shoot Suspect In Aggravated Assault Case
A man from Lamesa is deceased after an officer involved shooting. On Tuesday, January 9, the Lamesa Police Department reportedly tried to serve a Lamesa man a warrant for Aggravated Assault of a Child. When police arrived at the suspects apartment complex in the 2300 block of South 8th Street Lamesa is where the situation escalated.
KAMC news reports that after being confronted by Lamesa police is when the suspect was then shot by an officer. That officer then aided the suspect and immediately began life saving practices but was unsuccessful in their attempts and that suspect did pass away. There were no reported injuries to the officer that shot the suspect or any other law enforcement officials involved in this incident.
At the time of the publishing of this article it is not yet known what caused the situation between the suspect and police officer to escalate so drastically. In following with protocol the officer that shot the suspect has been placed on administrative leave and the Texas Rangers are now in charge of the investigation into this incident. The identity of that suspect has not yet been released to the public.
